Perry County Tennessee Circuit Court Minutes
After 1834, in most TN counties, including Perry, Circuit Court heard cases of law — where laws had been broken and guilt or innocence was to be decided. Civil Cases included debt, divorce, and assault. State/Criminal Cases included theft, gambling, fighting, murder, bastardy.
Circuit Court of Law and Equity held at the Courthouse in the town of Perryville. These volumes list good and lawful men, householders and freeholders who served as jurymen; indictments for larceny, gaming, perjury, rioting, passing counterfeit money, slander; petitions for dower, appeals from County Court or from Justices of the Peace.
