Tennessee Settlers and Their Descendants
In 1986 the TNGS initiated The TENNESSEE ANCESTRY CERTIFICATE program to recognize and honor the early settlers who helped shape the great state of Tennessee. Almost 1,500 of the certificates were issued to applicants who submitted documentation proving that their prime ancestor lived in the area that is now Tennessee from the first settlement in 1769 through the year 1880.
Using information compiled from this program, the Society published Tennessee Settlers and Their Descendants, Vol. 1 tracing the genealogical history of some of the state’s earliest settlers and their descendants to the present. This volume is fully indexed.
Volume 2 is a compilation of information submitted between January 1, 1994 and December 31, 2004. This volume reports on 266 early Tennessee families with over 1,400 surnames fully indexed.
Volume 3 is a compilation of information submitted between January 1, 20015 and October 31, 2015. This volume contains over 165 individuals and their lineal descendants with over 750 surnames. This volume is fully indexed.
